About Me

This is a blog for mothers making a home abroad in a multicultural environment. We live an unconventional life, but it feels more like we are picking and choosing from various types of conventional lives.

My name is Jennifer van Dijk. I am an American living in The Netherlands with my Dutch husband and our two adorable little girls. I came from the Midwest, but have lived in Europe since 2006. I have travelled internationally for work, but my husband and I also enjoy experiencing new places together. We are both SCUBA divers so our holidays before our daughter centered around that. Nowadays, we are still getting out and about a fair bit, but to more kid friendly locales.

Over the years the phrase, “Live life for that which will outlast it” has really resonated with me. It’s meaning is mutifaceted and continually evolving – a hallmark for a good life motto, I think. This blog will also incorporate what that idea means to me. I hope you enjoy it. I always appreciate your comments, ideas, and feedback.
